Paul D. Hart has worked in film and television lighting for more than twenty years, across commercials, music videos, independent features, episodic television and large-scale studio productions. His career began on compact Los Angeles crews, where the gaffer was expected to think practically, move quickly and help shape the image with limited resources, before expanding into senior lighting roles on productions for Marvel, HBO, Amazon, Sony, Starz, Netflix and A24.
His recent work includes Gaffer, 2nd Unit Gaffer, ACLT and Set Lighting Technician roles on productions including Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, The Staircase, BMF, Causeway, Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Devil All the Time and Son of the South. His experience spans both large studio departments and smaller productions where the lighting team is expected to solve creatively with fewer resources.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
Technically, his experience spans LED and conventional systems, DMX and CRMX control, temporary production power, rigging, color control, LED video-wall and translight integration, Vectorworks planning, networked lighting systems and on-set troubleshooting. His background in writing, directing, editing and camera informs a lighting approach centered on story, performance, movement, continuity and the final cut.

Now based in NSW, Paul is building a long-term career in the Australian screen industry and is equally comfortable leading a lighting department or joining an established crew as a hands-on Set Lighting Technician.
